innovation

S3d Ingénierie (Waste Solutions and Sustainable Development) was founded in February 2007 by engineering PhD holders specialised in energy and process engineering. The initial idea was to provide industry, communities, and farmers with innovative solutions for energy recovery from their waste.

CEO Anthony Kerihuel and the company’s co-founders firmly believe that waste will be our raw materials of tomorrow and thus a source of competitive advantage for the future.

Since its creation, the company has been supported in its work by numerous partners committed to employment and innovation (BPI, ADEME, Région Pays de la Loire, Atlanpôle, etc.). It also works closely with academic partners, such as GEPEA (Laboratory of Engineering of Environmental and Food Processes), INRAE, and engineering schools, including Polytech Nantes and Mines de Nantes.

By becoming a subsidiary of SCE, S3d Ingénierie has joined the independent Keran Group, which provides solutions to city, territory, coastal and digital issues. It thus benefits from the complementary skills of the other companies in the group: Créocéan, Groupe Huit and Naomis.

The group has 550 employees and an annual turnover of 54 million euros; international projects account for 20% of this (2019 figures).

Organisation

Organised in four specialist clusters (Methanation, Pyro-gasification, Alternative Fuels, and Strategies and Performance), we remain very much an SME, where team spirit and multidisciplinary teamwork are omnipresent.

The company now has 17 employees, including four engineering PhD holders, and 11 engineers with complementary profiles in process engineering, agronomy, thermal engineering and energy, and waste management. Our head office has been located in Nantes since the company’s creation and we now have a second office in Lyon to facilitate our work in the east of the country. We also benefit from SCE's strong local network thanks to its ten regional agencies.

As a subsidiary of SCE, S3d Ingénierie enjoys access to the complementary experience and skills of its teams, in water, sanitation, civil engineering and environment. SCE’s legal, accounting, and financial departments also provide us with their support.

Ours innovations

Industrial waste management has traditionally been an outsourcing strategy. We are convinced that in-house management and energy recovery of waste is an under-exploited source of added value.

This is why we want to offer innovative solutions for the sustainable and profitable recovery of residual materials from communities, agriculture or industry.

To do this, we participate in national and European research projects, we carry out audits of new processes and we update our database in order to be always up to date with innovations.
